A biomaterial born from your morning brew, crafted from spent coffee grounds - a widely available but often discarded resource.

Each year, an estimated 6 million tonnes of coffee grounds end up in landfills, contributing to acidic environmental waste. Biobean extends the life cycle of coffee, transforming waste into a durable, high-performance material.
Innovative Properties:
High tensile strength - resists stretching and deformation
Impressive stiffness & hardness -strong structural integrity
Tactile & organic finish - retains the rich, earthy texture of coffee
End of Life:
Biodegradable - breaks down naturally over time
Commercially compostable - decomposes efficiently in industrial composting facilities
A circular solution - repurposes waste and returns to the earth sustainably
Applications:
Biobean is a versatile material with applications across multiple industries, including:
Hard plastic replacement - an eco-friendly alternative for consumer goods
Homewares & furniture - durable, aesthetically unique surfaces
Outdoor gear & accessories - harnessing its strength and resilience
As a proof of concept, Biobean was used in a jewelry design project, "Grounded with Grounds", featuring a tactile necklace pendant crafted entirely from coffee-based biomaterial, showcasing its strength, texture, and natural beauty. Get in touch to explore the design process portfolio.
